Now available digital certificates of distinctive signs in Dominican Republic

In order to make more efficient the institutional IP services, we inform you that the ONAPI -through administrative resolution No. RO-193-20– ordered as of August 3, 2020 that all registration certificates of distinctive signs, trademarks and trade names are digitally issued.
This resolution streamlines the trademark registration process and eliminates the delivery of the physical paper of the registration certificate. In this new digital format, the registration number granted in said certificate serves as guarantee of the corresponding intellectual property right.
It is important to note that this new digital format of the registration certificate will have the same validity and legal effect as the physical registration certificates that have been issued up until the enforcement of this administrative resolution.
